American Rabbis Urged to Help Strengthen Religious Influence in Jewish State

An appeal for the strengthening of religious inference in Israel through the Religious Bloc was made here by Moshe Shapiro, Israeli Minister of Interior, Health and Immigration at a meeting of the Rabbinical Council of America, which is composed of 435 Orthodox rabbis.

He asked aid in “maintaining the religious integrity of Israel and promoting Torah there.” The Minister denied that it was the wish of the Orthodox parties in Israel to establish a theocracy in the Jewish state. At the conclusion of Mr. ### address, the rabbinical organization adopted a resolution pledging its support to the Religious Bloc in the forthcoming Israel election campaign.
