American Reform rabbis overwhelmingly adopted a new statement of principles to guide the movement that claims the most adherents in America. The document, which passed Wednesday after two days of heated debate, encourages more tradition and spirituality. But some rabbis at the meeting in Pittsburgh of the Central Conference of American Rabbis complained that it had been diluted from its original form to make it “pareve.”
