In pace with the growing volume of conversions of Israel bonds by tourists visiting Israel, the American branch of the Bank Leumi Le-Israel announced today the introduction of travelers checks. These are designed primarily for the convenience of visitors who, after the conversion of bonds, have large sums of Israeli currency in their possession.
The travelers checks can also be purchased against payments in foreign currency. The Bank Leumi issues and redeems its travellers checks at any of its 86 branches located throughout Israel. There is no extra charge for this service. There remains the exchange commission applicable heretofore on foreign currency or bond conversions. Checks are issued in denominations of 10, 25, 50 and 100 pounds.
