The American Youth Congress was on record today with resolutions condemning dictatorships of all kinds, appealing for interfaith cooperation and urging enactment of laws to prevent religious and racial discrimination.
The resolution on dictatorships voiced opposition to “all forms of dictatorships, whether they be Communist, Fascist, Nazi or any other type,” but backed full freedom of speech to all persons “regardless of race, creed, religion or political label, whether Republican, Democratic, Socialist, Communist, Fascist or any other.”
A report of the Panel on Interfaith and Interracial Understanding, accepted by the plenary session last night, expressed belief “that we have a religious basis for united action in our common Christian-Jewish heritage,” and urged Catholic youths “to work side by side with youth of all races and religions.” The Congress endorsed the Wagner-Rogers bill for admission of 20,000 refugee children from Germany.
