The American Zionist Emergency Council made public last night the text of a telegram sent to Secretary of State George C. Marshall, protesting the action of the U.S. Maritime Commission in cancelling stops by the American vessel Marine Carp at the Israeli port of Haifa. The telegram reads:
“This act represents the practical acceptance of the unlawful Arab blockade of Israel, appeasement of those whom our government has branded as aggressors, and unwarranted penalization of the state of Israel, Instead of insisting on freedom of American shipping, our government bows to the whims of Arab violators of international law. We respectfully request you to give this matter your immediate and personal attention, to cancel the reported instruction, and to insure that in the future American shipping may carry on its lawful commerce without interference.”
