American, Canadian and South African nationals in the employ of the Israel Government will be permitted, as in the past, to retain their original nationality, without becoming Israeli citizens, it was announced by the Civil Service administration here today.
Under Civil Service, the 400 employees holding citizenship in the United States. Canada and South Africa were to have been forced to swear allegiance to Israel, surrendering their foreign citizenship. Under the new rule, however, they will be continued in the Civil Service under special contracts, permitting them to retain their foreign citizenship.
