Amos Perlmutter, a Mideast expert and professor of political science and sociology at American University, died Tuesday at 69. Born in Poland, Perlmutter fought in three wars in Israel and later served as a member of the Israeli delegation to the United Nations and as a political adviser to the Israeli military.
