An eight-foot high bronze statue of Abraham Lincoln was unveiled at Ramat Gan Sunday evening in the presence of Premier Yitzhak Rabin and other dignitaries. The statue, sponsored by Leon Gildesgame, was donated to Israel as a gift from the American people, formalized in a special act by both Houses of Congress which was signed by President Ford. The ceremonies were attended by Rabbi Herschel Schacter, serving as a special representative of Ford, Thomas Dunnigan, the Charge d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy and Mayor Israel Peled of Ramat Gan.
