An Iraqi diplomat criticized the international community for allowing Israel to keep its nuclear facilities closed to inspectors while other states face demands to dismantle their arsenals. “Our present world is witnessing an era of nuclear apartheid,” the envoy told a meeting Thursday of the U.N. Conference on Disarmament in Geneva. The diplomat made no direct reference to his country’s continued refusal to cooperate with U.N. weapons inspectors.
