An Israeli company received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to begin clinical trials of a pill that may help diagnose the human small intestine as the pill travels through the body. The system developed by the Given Imaging company consists of a pill that uses wireless capsule technology to transmit information to a recorder strapped to the waist of the patient and a computer work station to process the information.
