An Israeli court sent a severe message to taxi drivers who think they can take unsuspecting passengers for a ride. The court fined a taxi driver $1,750 for overcharging a passenger and refusing to turn the meter on. The court also suspended his driver’s license for three months and made him sign a $2,500 promissory note not to repeat the offense.
