An Israeli Druse recently freed from Egyptian captivity will be honored on Israel’s Independence Day. The Ministerial Committee for Symbols and Ceremonies decided Thursday that Azzam Azzam, who served eight years in an Egyptian prison on trumped-up spying charges, will light one of the ceremonial torches at the main Independence Day ceremony in May.
