An Israeli opposition lawmaker proposed setting up a Knesset committee to investigate alleged corruption by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. On Wednesday, in an 11-10 vote, the Knesset plenum approved the legislation by Arieh Eldad of the National Union faction. Members of Sharon’s ruling coalition attributed the passage to a lack of loyal lawmakers in the plenum, and said the proposal likely will be blocked by the Knesset House Committee.
