An Israeli peace group is protesting the exclusion of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin’s assassination from the list of historic moments to be remembered during the main event marking Israel’s 50th anniversary. The producer of the event, which is scheduled for April 30, was quoted as saying that the event will focus on the “joyful moments and achievements of the state from the past 50 years.” Meanwhile, thousands of Israelis plan to lay a cornerstone at the controversial neighborhood of Har Homa in southeastern Jerusalem during the jubilee celebrations to show support for an undivided Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
