An Israeli police officer was wounded Tuesday when gunmen opened fire on Israeli security forces near the West Bank city of Tulkarm. Members of the Tanzim, a terrorist militia of the Palestinians’ ruling Fatah movement, opened fire on police officers and border policemen who had entered a village south of Tulkarm to search for stolen cars, Israel Radio reported. The militants shot the police officer in his leg. One of the militants was killed and another was seriously wounded.
