An Israeli politician from the former Soviet Union called on the Reform movement in Israel to recognize children of Jewish fathers as Jews. Roman Bronfman said the recognition would help many mixed-religion families who have immigrated from the former Soviet Union to Israel in recent years and are treated as second-class citizens. The Reform movement in the United States already recognizes patrilineal descent.
