An Israeli television weatherman apologized for making a lewd comment on-air.
Danny Roop, weatherman for Israel’s Channel Ten, issued a retraction for a double-entendre concerning this week’s snow storms.
Commenting on areas of Israel that saw less than the predicted snowfall, Roop said during a live broadcast Tuesday that Channel Ten’s female news anchor, Micky Haimovitch, “was disappointed not to have gotten her 20 centimeters last night”.
Following viewer complaints, Roop said in a statement that he had apologized to Haimovitch for his “slip of the lip, which was meant to be funny but came out badly”.
Roop is Israel’s most popular weatherman, and worked with Haimovitch on Israel’s premier television station, Channel Two, before they were poached together by Channel Ten several years ago.
