The influence upon Hebrew history and literature of the Egyptians, Babylonians, Persians and other peoples of the orient, as well as their effect upon the Greeks, will be studied at Columbia this summer in a course on the Ancient Orient, in which oriental history will be surveyed by Dr. Nathaniel Schmist, professor emeritus of Semitic languages at Cornell University, who has just been appointed to the Columbia University Summer School faculty, according to an announcement by Director John J.
