The Anglo-American conference on refugee problems will open next Monday, April 19, in Hamilton, Bermuda, it was announced here today.
The British Government will be represented at the conference by three parliamentary underseoretaries. They are Richard K. Law, undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, Osbert Peake, undersecretary of the Home Office, and George Hall, undersecretary of the Admiralty. All three are members of the British Parliament.
The United States Government will be represented by a three-man delegation composed of Congressman Sol Bloom, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Senator Scott Lucas, Illinois Democrat, who is Senate president pro-tem, and Harold Willis Dodds, president of Princeton University, who will head the group.
R. Borden Reams, American Foreign Service officer who has been studying refugee problems recently at the State Department, will act as secretary to the American delegation. Howard Bucknell, Jr., head of the State Department’s press section, will accompany the delegation as press officer. Other technical assistants will be announced later from Hamilton.
Congressman Bloom today declined to comment on his appointment. He said that he had not seen the agenda of the conference. Rep. Bloom did not expect that the American delegation would meet before leaving the United States, since its members will have time to get acquainted in Bermuda before the conference convenes. The delegation is scheduled to leave for Bermuda later this week.
