The ninth anniversary of the Jewish revolt in the Warsaw Ghetto against the German Army in World War II was observed yesterday in many towns in Poland, according to Warsaw radio broadcasts.
Teachers in Polish schools had been instructed to lecture to the children on the Jewish revolt and mass meetings were arranged in many cities to pay tribute to the Jews who died resisting the Nazis.
A large memorial meeting was held in Warsaw at the ghetto monument erected on the site of the former ghetto. Representatives from provincial Jewish communities participated in the meeting.
