Anniversary of Strike Against Nazi Raids on Jews Commemorated by 50,000 in Amsterdam

A demonstration of 50,000 people was held here to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the strike called to protest the first Nazi raids against Dutch Jews.

Queen Wilhelmina, who attended, presented the city of Amsterdam with a new SS on which the symbol of “mercy,” expressing the devotion of the city to its Jews, as inscribed. Jewish spokesmen addressed the meeting and a unit of the Jewish brigade was present at the ceremony.
