The Jewish cemetery in Gerolzhofen near Schweinfurt was broken into and desecrated, the “C. V. Zeitung” of this week reports. Five gravestones were overthrown and the mortuary chapel was painted over with swastikas.
Deputy Leo Schwering, a member of the Catholic (Centre) Party, writing in the “C. V. Zeitung” protests against the desecration of Jewish cemeteries in Germany. “Apart from all questions of religion and party-politics,” he writes, “there is such a thing as common humanity which should be enough to prevent such outrages.”
