The Nazi agitators assert that the Reichstag was full of Jwe: that the Social – Demoeratic party was a Jewish party and that “of the 30 representative members whom the Social-Democrats sent to the 19 committees of the Reichstag no less than 38 were Jews.”

All this is inaccurate. For instance, in the Reichstage of 1930 there was only one Jew among about 600 members, and 20 members of Jewish descent. The Socialist party had 143 members, among them 14 of Jewish descent. In the Executive Committee of this party there was one Jew, Dr. Hilferding.

It the Nazis designate the Socialist theory as “Jewish” because Karl Marx was of Jewish orrgin, then the German Conservative party must also be called Jewish, because the theorist of the Conservatives was a baptized Jew, Fr. Julius Stahl. But neither Marx nor Stahl based his ideas on Jewish principles; both were entirely estraged from Judaism.

If there were more Jews in Germany among the parties of the Left than among the parties of the Right, the reason is that the parties of the Right were always more or less anti-Semitic, did not accept Jews as members or, if they did, did not give them any chance to be candidates. In imperial Germany no unbaptized Jew could hope to get any post in the government or city service. Thus Jews interested in polities were driven to the Left Wing Liberals and Social-Demoerats. Jews did not play any great part in the Communist party.

It may be mentioned here that the Nazis call all their opponents Jews. They called the first president of the Reich, Ebert, and the Premier of Prussia, Otto Braun, Jews; both were actually pure “Aryans.” They called Liebknecht, the founder of the German Communist party; Kautksy, the theorist of the Socialist party; the Socialist Minister, David; Erzberger, the Centre party leader, Jews. They were all pure “Aryans.” On the other hand, for propaganda purposes Nazis tranform into ministers and high officials Jews who never occupied a government post, merely for the purpose of their anti-Semitic statisties.

Nazi propaganda label every foreign statesman whom they dislike a Jew, for instance Pioncare, Briand, Sir John Simon, Sir Austin Chamberlain, Van dervelde and others. That is only for home consumption.
