An explosion this morning did slight damage to a synagogue here. A box containing explosives was found under the entrance door confirming suspicions that the explosion was the work of anti-Jewish elements. Although damages were confined to the door, windows and the entrance to the prayer hall it is feared that services may have to be suspended until repairs can be made. M. Chavin, general secretary of the Interior, and police who were present at the scene promised a prompt investigation. This is the same synagogue whose windows were broken last week by stones thrown by a group of hoodlums.
Meanwhile, the Paris press reports that the Amiens Synagogue has been “seized”, and is now occupied by cooperative groups.
