An inciting anti-Semitic appeal is being mailed in thousands of copies in the official envelopes of the Paris municipal council, the newspaper l’ordre revealed today in an article headed, “what the taxpayers’ money is being spent for.”
The newspaper, which is conservative in tendency, said the mailing was apparently being done by certain aldermen, since every member of the council has a supply of the municipal stationery, which he gets gratis. Emphasizing that, despite increased taxation the municipality faces a billion franc deficit, l’ordre asks whether it is proper to use the taxpayers’ money to spread appeals inciting part of the population against the other and calling for civil war.
Increasing propaganda against aliens has resulted in a meeting of Government departmental experts to map legislation intended to purge Paris and vicinity of “undesirable aliens” and also make it difficult for aliens to obtain trade and artisans’ licenses.
