A letter alleging that Dr. Arthur Edwin Baumgarten, presiding judge in the sensational trial of three Reichswehr lieutenants charged with high treason in connection with Fascist activities, is a Jew was handed him in the Supreme Court room at the opening of today’s session of the sensational case. The letter was profusely decorated with swastika signs, which in Germany are used as anti-Semitic labels.

The letter also demanded that Adolf Hitler, leader of the Fascists, and who was himself called as a witness in the trial last week, be named the judge. Dr. Baumgarten read the letter himself from the tribunal and announced that he was not a Jew.
