Police authorities dispersed an anti-Semitic demonstration here which was organized following circulation of a rumor that a Jew had attacked a Pole on one of the busiest streets of the city.

More than 1,000 persons including many students participated in the demonstration at which anti-Jewish and anti-government slogans were shouted. A subsequent investigation established that the Pole was beaten, not by a Jew, but by another Polish passer-by whom he insulted on the street, after mistaking him for a Jew.
