Police today arrested an anti-Semitic ex-convict who is charged with the recent robbery, with anti-Jewish overtones, of Daniel Schweitzer, Chilean Ambassador to the United Nations.
Mr. Schweitzer, 64, was the victim recently of three hoodlums who broke into his home and demanded at gunpoint to know if he was Jewish. When he replied that he was, they forced him to give a Nazi salute and shout “Heil Hitler!” He was told that if he did not comply he would be shot down.
Police today identified Joseph Edward Curran, 29, as one of the three intruders. Curran was released from Sing Sing prison only last September. After being abused for being a Jew, Mr. Schweitzer was robbed.
