The words ”mad Jews” were scribbled last night on the walls of the New Synagogue here and on the pavement in front of the house of worship. This was the first anti-Semitic manifestation in postwar Holland, and it came as a shock to police, newspapers and the general public.
The liberal daily, Nieuwe Kotterdam Courant, in an editorial today, denounced the act as one perpetrated by ”hooligans spreading poison.” Police have notified the Jewish community that they are trying to trace the perpetrators of the act.
