Anti-Semitism, which was virtually unknown in Argentina 20 years ago, is now growing daily, Dr. Moises Goldman, president of the Daia, central representative body of Argentine Jewry, told a national conference of the organization held here.
Dr. Goldman reviewed the various anti-Semitic incidents which have occurred in the past few months, and said that although the Daia had succeeded in obtaining satisfaction from the Government in some of the cases, in others its protests and interventions were ignored. He cited the fact that anti-Semitic newspapers were still permitted to publish and that a well known anti-Semite, Dr. Santiago Peralta, has been named head of the Immigration Office.
The conference unanimously adopted a resolution urging that relief activities in Argentina for Jews abroad should be unified, or, at least, coordinated. Dr. Goldman stressed that the Daia would continue to work closely with the World Jewish Congress and the Jewish Agency for Palestine.
