Andre Blumel, former president of the Zionist Organization in France who is known for his pro-Soviet views, told a meeting here last night on his return from Russia that one had to admit that “unfortunately, popular anti-Semitism still exists” in the Soviet Union.

At the same time he insisted that “all is well” with Soviet Jewry. He contended that no synagogue was closed by Soviet authorities as long as worshipers existed for that synagogue and that Jewish culture, “although slightly curtailed,” was free to flourish in Russia.
