The Swiss federal government will ratify tomorrow the European convention on the repression of terrorism. This convention is the result of joint efforts by the 19 European Council nations in combating terrorism. The convention deals with means to be taken against civil aviation hijacking, and the kidnapping and the taking of hostages. The countries that signed the convention pledged to extradite terrorists who are not placed on trial in their countries of origin and to refuse them political asylum. Switzerland has already ratified The Hague convention of 1970 against terrorism and the 1971 Montreal convention dealing with civil aviation security.
