An appeal to American Jewry to contribute to a fund to enable the rebuilding of the Hasmonean Sport Club of Lemberg, Poland, razed by anti-Semites, during the recent excesses, has been addressed by a Lemberg Jewish Committee and published in the ‘Morning Journal.”

The paper, both in its news columns and in the column conducted by Jacob Fishman, its managing editor, urges American Jewry to come to the aid of the Hasmonean Club, which will not be able to rebuild its premises without aid from abroad.

Mr. Fishman holds that the response of American Jewry is a challenge which it must answer. He points out that the anti-Semites razed the Club premises because the Club was the symbol of the Jewish will to resist attack.

The Hasmonean Sport Club is twenty-five years old, is the oldest Jewish sport club in Poland and one of the oldest sport clubs in the country.
