An effort by the Women’s Division of the United Jewish Appeal to raise $200,000 for the relief and rehabilitation of German Jewry was launched yesterday afternoon at a tea held in the home of Mrs. Roger W. Straus, 6 East Ninety-third street. One hundred and twenty-five Jewish women’s organizations of New York City were represented.
Speakers included Mrs. Isadore Freedman, president of the Women’s Branch of the Union of Orthodox Congregations of America; Mrs. Israel Davidson, president of the Women’s Branch of the United Synagogue of America; Mrs. Albert J. May, president of the New York State Federation of Temple Sisterhoods and Rabbi Samuel H. Goldenson of Temple Emanu-El.
