Proposals that Great Britain give to Polish Jews the right to emigrate to thinly populated parts of the British Empire, as well as to Palestine, were made here today before the Finance Committee of the Sejm (lower house of Parliament).
“We appeal to France and Great Britain, to which Polish Jews have constantly complained of their position,” said a statement submitted by Deputy Wojceshowski, reporter on the Interior Ministry budget. “In particular we ask Great Britain, in the name of humanitarian sentiments, to open Palestine to Jewish colonization, as well as other thinly populated colonies, if necessary.
“Colonial powers should help us materially and financially to solve the problem of Jewish emigration with the cooperation of the Jews themselves.”
Though the “desperate and hungry” position of the Polish people makes it necessary to dispose of the “excess” Jewish population, he said, the Polish Government will oppose meeting the problem with violence.
