The appointment of a 71-member National Campaign Cabinet to serve as the top policy-making and planning body for the nationwide 1961 United Jewish Appeal campaign for $72,740,000, was announced today by Joseph Meyerhoff, UJA general chairman. Members of the Campaign Cabinet are all key Jewish communal leaders from 42 cities in 23 states. Melvin Dubinsky, who was chairman of the 1960 Campaign Cabinet, will again serve in that capacity this year.
“Our nationwide UJA goal of $72,740,000,” Mr. Meyerhoff declared, “is a minimal goal for the maintenance of our urgent aid programs to 580,500 men, women and children–and to achieve this goal, it is vital that each community should set a quota commensurate with the needs.”
