April 16 to 27 inclusive, has been announced as the period for San Francisco’s annual Jewish National Welfare Fund campaign, according to Judge M. C. Sloss, president of the Fund, who also states that Berthold Guggenhime has been selected as campaign manager.
The Jewish National Welfare Fund provides San Francisco’s quota toward the maintenance of Jewish educational, religious, cultural and charitable institutions of national and international character. Forty-five institutions and agencies are embraced by the fund.
In announcing the preliminary plans for the drive, campaign director Guggenhime said that “the need for relief of distressed Jews, particularly in other countries is greater this year than at any time since the Jewish National Welfare Fund was organized in 1925.”
Teams of men and women, recruited from all elements of the local community, will participate in the money raising campaign. The financial goal will be announced shortly.
