Seven children were slightly injured at noon today when an Arab threw a bomb into the yard of a Yemenite religious school on Brenner Street in the heart of the all-Jewish city of Tel Aviv, an official communique said.
One of the children was earlier reported seriously wounded. All were taken to Hadassah hospital. The victims range in age from nine to twelve years.
The fact that the bomb was evidently poorly aimed and struck a fence saved several hundred children at recess in the yard from possible injury.
A Jewish passer-by who saw the Arab throw the bomb, gave chase, but was halted by a group of Arabs and severely beaten. He was taken to the hospital suffering from a broken arm. The Arab escaped.
A Jewish woman in Jerusalem prevented an explosion by picking up a home-made bomb thrown into her room and pulling out the fuse.
A bomb explosion slightly damaged police headquarters at Haifa. Other bombs were thrown at the Government offices and the post office in Jaffa.
Sporadic shooting was reported in Betania, Kfar Ezekiel, Kalmania, Hedera and Beit Vegan. Thirty dunams of mixed fruit trees were cut down by marauders in the Government grove at Farwani near Beisan during the night.
Curfew from nine p.m. to 2.45 a.m. was imposed on the Jenin municipal area.
