The administrative committee of the United Nations General Assembly meeting here today elected as its president Paris El (###) Speaker of the Syrian parliament and head of his country’s delegation to the assembly. He was proposed by the Ukrainian representatives and supported by Cuba, Chile, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Egypt and Czechoslovakia.
Jewish observers expressed satisfaction today at the fact that Prime Minister Attlee emphasized in his opening address the necessity to protect human rights.
