The Hebrew press today reports that the Arab Istiklal party, which is considered an extremist party supporting the views of the ex-Mufti, has completed plans for a club which will advocate Arab-Jewish rapprochement. The Istiklal is simultaneously making all possible efforts to establish an Arab representation in Palestine and in London.
The Istiklal group has also started a campaign against the Arab Mejelsin party which demands the establishment of a Supreme Arab Council. The Istiklalists claim that the Mejelsin party does not represent the Arabs of Palestine.
In the meantime, the Arab newspaper Falastin today published a demand that the British authorities not confine themselves to making declarations on Jewish immigration to Palestine, but should announce what they intend to do with regard to enforcing other provisions of the White Paper, such as those concerning land restrictions, “in order to hand over the government in Palestine to Palestine inhabitants when the term of the White Paper expires next year.”
