The prediction that the armistice concluded between Israel and a number of Arab countries “does not mean establishment of peace in the Middle East” was made today in the Soviet weekly newspaper, “New Times.”
The paper cited British and American press comments in which the idea is expressed that present relations between Israel and the Arab countries are hampering the creation of a Mediterranean pact. Declaring that England aspires to play in the Mediterranean pact the same role as the United States played in the North Atlantic pact,” the Soviet statement says that the Mediterranean pact aim to convert the Eastern Mediterranean area into a springboard for war against the Soviet Union.
