The Arab League has asked the British Government to permit the ex-Mufti of Jerusalem to return to Palestine and to restore him to full civil rights, it was revealed here yesterday in a league communique. This is the first time the League has formally intervened in the ex-Mufti’s case.
The communique also stated that the league had insisted that the Palestine Arabs be permitted to attend the London parley on Palestine. The Palestine Arab Higher Committee has conditionded its attendance on acceptance of the ex-Mufti as one of its delegates. It is understood that the British Government has promised careful consideration of both of the League’s requests.
