The forthcoming trip of Secretary of State John Foster Dallas to the Middle East the first trip ever taken by an American Secretary of State to the countries of the Middle East is arousing considerable interest in Arab circles, according to reports received here today.
The visit will be discussed at a meeting of the Arab League in Cairo this weekend, according to a spokesman of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.
Mr. Dulles is expected to arrive in Cairo on May 5 and will head a conference of American envoys in the Middle East to study outstanding Arab problems. State Department officials have said the Dulles trip is aimed at strengthening American relations with the Arab world and speeding the building of a Middle Eastern defensive alliance against Communism.
