Arab Legion commanders in the Hebron area, Jordan, from which a number of attacks had been launched recently by fedayeen staging incursions into Israel, have warned village headmen that they will be held personally responsible for any future illegal crossings of the Israel frontier.
The village headmen were told, in meetings to which they were summoned by Legion commanders yesterday, that collective fines will be imposed on villages from which anti-Israel raids are launched in the future.
Observers here expressed the opinion that Arab Legion leaders fear Israel is ready and able to take firm action against invaders, now that the Gaza-Sinai campaign has been liquidated.
