A sensational report that the legislative council for Palestine will be postponed despite its proclamation by the High Commissioner on Sunday is published today in Alliwa, Arab newspaper which because of its connection with the Grand Mufti has been unusually well informed on all council developments.
According to the paper, the British Colonial Office has ordered Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope the High Commissioner for Palestine, to take no further action towards establishment of the council until informed of the results of negotiations being carried on with the Zionist Executive in London.
The paper purports to reveal that Viceroy Willingdon of India pressed the Colonial Office for establishment of the council because of promises that had been made to Moslems in India on behalf of their Palestine co-religionists.
