The Arabic press here is expressing considerable dissatisfaction at the report from Jeddah that St. John Philby, a pro-Arab Englishman and former adviser to the Transjordanian government, has become converted to Islamism. The papers call him “a political and commercial Moslem.” The “Falastin” says that many non-Moslems embraced Islam this year merely for political and business reasons.
