Arab sabotage incidents inside the pre-1967 borders of Israel (the “Green Line”) during 1980 were half those in the previous year, according to Civil Guard commander Police Inspector Shaul Givoli.
He said that during the year 70 explosive charges were laid by terrorists within Israel proper but most of them were discovered by alert citizens and neutralized by police engineers before they did any damage. One death from terrorist activities was reported during the year and 57 injuries. His report did not cover terrorist activities against Jews in the West Bank or Gaza Strip, where a number of Israelis were killed.
