Seeking to disrupt the Palestine civil administration, Arab terrorists are today directing their strongest efforts against Arab Government employes. A large band raided the village of Rima, near Nazareth, this morning and murdered an Arab Mukhtar (village chieftain in the Government pay). The killing was the second in two days, another Mukhtar having been slain yesterday in a village near Zichron Jacob.

Many others have received warnings to resign or be killed. The Mukhtar of Siris, near Jenin, announced to the District Commissioner that he was resigning following receipt of such a threat. He was arrested and sent to the Acre concentration camp.

Troops and heavily armed police were today stopping and searching all vehicles and passengers throughout Palestine. Barbed wire barricades, missing since last Autumn, have again been erected at all entrances to Jerusalem. Busses and cars were being halted, passengers forced to alight and submit to search. Police armed with machine guns patrolled the city, suddenly stopping to search Jewish and Arab vehicles and pedestrians.
