Four thousand eucalyptus trees planted in the marsh area of Caesarea by the Pica, the colonization agency of Baron Edmund de Rothschild, were uprooted in an attack of anti-Zionist Arabs on the drainage works there.
The attacks was made by Arabs gathered at a neighboring Arab village.
The area consists of 50,000 dunam land and several hundred workmen are employed in the drainage work. The land was purchased by the Palestine Jewish Colonization Association in 1920. Afforestation started last January after six years of hindrance on the part of Arabs.
The Arab press, commenting today on the attack, declares that the trees were uprooted because the Arabs believe the Pica captured the land which is claimed by 400 Arabs.
