Israel protested to the Israel-Jordan Mixed Armistice Commission late yesterday against an Arab attempt to attack Ramat Rachel, a southern Jerusalem suburb. This was the second incident in two days.
Settlement guards drove off the Arab infiltrators before they could do any damage, Later, Israeli officers with bloodhounds, and accompanied by UN observers, tracked the infiltrators to the demarcation line with Jordan.
In the earlier attack, Friday, a gang of armed Arabs fired with automatic weapons on an Israeli patrol near Bet Govrin, but inflicted no casualties. This incident occurred on the heels of the patrol’s driving off a band of Arabs who had crossed into Israel territory and had attempted to plough land inside Israel.
